Mrs. West grew up in American Fork, Utah.
Mrs. West attended American Fork Jr.High–home of the Caveman–yes it’s true!
Mrs. West’ favorite teacher was Mrs. Maine. who taught her favorite subject–History!! Yes, you read that right!!
“I fondly refer to my junior high days as "the greasy years" due to the fact that my transition from childhood to teenage years involved the discovery of hygiene and style. One of my favorite stories to illustrate this occurred in 7th grade. It was cool to have "wavy" hair and mine was stick straight. So I tried scrunching my hair and using hair gel to achieve the look. I decided to use HALF the bottle because I thought more = cooler. I walked into school looking like I had just gone for a swim, but my hair didn’t move. (No amount of scrunching stuck) That’s when I learned: a pea-sized amount actually means a pea-sized amount!”
